In ancient Egypt the slaves worked tirelessly building pyramids and statues in honor of the great Pharoahs and their gods. They were burdened with heavy loads as they toiled under the hot Egyptian sun.
Lately it's been hot here too....
and a statue of Anubis, the Eyptian god of funerals, has been seen in our backyard.
Along with Thoth, whose crescent shaped beak reminds us that he was their god of the moon.
Here is a photo of Baset. The Egyptians thought she had the power to ripen crops.
(Too bad we don't have a garden this year.)
After Camden read a book on ancient Egypt, he had a lot of fun pretending that he was an Egyptian slave who build statues for Pharoah. Here is a photo of the young artisan among all of his creations.
Pretty cool, huh?
